About Fabrics
The Cottons I use are 100% cotton and machine washable. They come in a variety of prints, plaids and stripes. These are just samples of the hundreds we have in stock. You can call and ask about your favorite color and availability of prints. We can e-mail you samples of those in stock, and I can even send a sample "swatch" when needed.
The Home Dec fabrics are usually 100% cotton or 100% polyester and are usually dry clean recommended. Their uses in the home make them very appealing as handbags and totes. Don't know what they look like exactly, then picture a heavy linen or a light weight canvas.
The pre-quilted fabrics are two coordinating cotton fabrics that go great together & have a warm layer of batting between them for quilting, or they can add visualized depth to a handbag. These selections have already been quilted together by the fabric manufacturer for us.
The plaids have a romantic & historical background. Patterns consisting of a criss-crossed horizontal & vertical pattern & sewn with many alternating pre-dyed threads were originally called "Tartans" in early Gaelic (Scottish) culture. A tartan might be known as a plaid in North America, but in Scotland a plaid fabric here is known as a tartan cloth over there. Usually slung over ones shoulder, worn as a kilt, or else it's usually a blanket item used for warmth in the Highlands.
The Stripes can be fun to use & wear either horizontal or vertically or even diagonally sometimes. You can get a retro from look from 1970 something, or a modern contemporary look depending on how they are sewn & the colors that you want to include.
The Toiles are actually HomeDec fabrics that have country life scenes printed on them. They are available in a variety of colors including black, navy blue, baby blue, red, burgundy, pink and green.
While doing this I thought about putting somewhere in my fabrics selection, that the viewer can call with a specific request to ask for additional pictures of other choices. If they already have a fabric that they want a bag made of, then they can call and discuss this and send me the fabric to make the bag as well.
Here are some pictures from recent Events, Faires, & Shows that depict many different types of fabrics & items that I make. Come out and see me if you live in or near Pennsylvania!
